Principle

myHandballStats stores all player, game and statistics data on your device. The app does not transmit this data to any server of the developer – the developer has no access to it. This policy applies to the app on iPhone and iPad as well as to the Android version; where the two differ, this is stated in the respective paragraph.

Cloud synchronisation

On iPhone and iPad: If iCloud is enabled on your device, player, game and statistics data are additionally stored in the private iCloud database of your own Apple account (Apple iCloud/CloudKit). This serves as a backup and keeps your devices in sync. The data resides in your personal iCloud storage; neither the app nor the developer can access it. Apple’s privacy policy applies.

Synchronisation can be switched off at any time: in the iOS settings under “Apple Account → iCloud”, disable the app. The data then remains locally on the device.

On Android there is no cloud synchronisation. All data remains on the device; it only leaves it if you export a backup file yourself and pass it on.

Live session (local network)

During a live session, the devices of the host and the helpers connect directly to each other (via the local Wi-Fi network, on iPhone and iPad also via peer-to-peer Wi-Fi) – encrypted (join code) and without any server or internet connection. Only the data of the respective game is transmitted (squad with number/name/position, recorded events, counter values). It is stored exclusively on the host’s device; nothing remains on helper devices after the session ends. Every join must be expressly confirmed by the host.

Photos and shared images

For the player image you can choose a photo from your library or take one with the camera. The app only receives the one photo you select or take – selection runs through the system photo picker, without access to the rest of your library. The photo is placed into the image on the device only; it is not transferred to the developer or third parties and is not stored permanently. On Android it exists only while the share window is open, as a temporary file in the app's protected storage, and is deleted when the window is closed.

Images you share or save from the app (e.g. game flow or player image) contain metadata: the name and version of the app, the notice “© <year> myHandballStats”, the web address myhandballstats.de and the creation date without time. Names of people or teams, location data and device identifiers are not written into the metadata. What is visible on the image itself – such as a name or a photo – is up to your choices; by sharing, you pass the image on to the recipient or service you choose.

PDF reports (such as the match report as a PDF) are likewise created only on the device. Their document properties contain only the title and “myHandballStats” as creator – no names of people or teams. Within the report, names appear in the form you choose when creating it (full name, first name or number only). The QR code in the report contains only the address myhandballstats.de/app; anyone who scans it opens this page, which forwards to the matching app store.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

Free use is financed by advertising from Google AdMob (Google Ireland Limited). When ads are displayed, the advertising identifier (the IDFA on iPhone and iPad, the advertising ID on Android), device and usage data, diagnostic data and the approximate location derived from the IP address may be processed; this may involve transfers to third countries (including the USA), safeguarded by the EU standard contractual clauses.

In the European Economic Area, the app asks for your consent via a consent dialogue from Google before showing personalised advertising. You can change your choice at any time in the app under “Settings → Ad privacy settings”. Advertising can also be removed permanently via an in-app purchase.

On iPhone and iPad, Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt is displayed in addition; this consent can be withdrawn at any time in the iOS settings under “Privacy & Security → Tracking”. On Android, the advertising ID can be reset or deleted in the Android settings under “Privacy → Ads”.

To make better use of the ad space, AdMob additionally mediates ads from further advertising networks (Unity Ads, InMobi, Liftoff Monetize). These receive the same advertising and device data as well as their own identifiers and purchase signals for selecting ads, and process it under their own responsibility; transfers to third countries are possible here as well. The choice you make in the consent dialogue is passed on to these networks.

Feedback

On iPhone and iPad: If you send feedback via “Send feedback”, your message, the type of feedback you selected, the app and iOS version, your purchase status (Premium/ad-free) and – only if you provide it – your e-mail address are stored in a public iCloud database (Apple CloudKit) belonging to the developer. No player, game or statistics data is transmitted. Providing your e-mail address is voluntary and only serves a possible follow-up question; without it, the feedback remains anonymous. The legal basis is your consent given by sending it (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

On Android, “Send feedback” opens your email app with a prepared message to the developer in which the app and Android version, device model, your purchase status (Premium/ad-free) and the type of feedback you selected are already filled in. Only what you actually send is transmitted – your message and your email address – via your own email provider. The information is used solely to reply to you; the same applies if you write to us directly by email. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in answering your enquiry (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Sending in a match report

If the app cannot read an official match report (PDF), or if figures do not add up while reading it, it offers to send the report to the developer. Your email app then opens with a prepared message to spielberichte@myhandballstats.de, the match report as an attachment and technical details (app and operating system version, app language, reason, page count and the program that created the PDF); if no mail account is set up on iPhone or iPad, the share sheet appears instead. Only what you actually send is transmitted, via your own email provider.

A match report usually contains names, shirt numbers, goals and penalties of players and officials – often including minors. The developer uses reports sent in solely to work out the format for the import: he creates test excerpts without names from them, does not pass the reports on, does not publish them and deletes the report and the email as soon as this is done, at the latest after twelve months. The legal basis is your consent by sending (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR); you can withdraw it at any time via the contact address below. Please only send reports that you have anyway, for example as a coach, team official or club representative.

Notice of new versions

To point out a newer version, the app asks the respective store at most once a day whether an update is available – on iPhone and iPad Apple (query of the current App Store version, transmitting your device’s IP address and store region), on Android Google Play (Google Ireland Limited). No player, match or statistics data is transmitted; the result is only evaluated on the device. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in drawing your attention to bug fixes and improvements (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Links to external services

The app links to the developer’s public profiles on third-party services: Instagram (Meta Platforms Ireland Limited), YouTube including the tutorial playlist (Google Ireland Limited) and the website myhandballstats.de. This content is not embedded in the app – no data is transmitted to these providers as long as you do not tap such a link.

If you tap a link, you leave the app: the page opens in the respective app or in your browser. From that moment on, the respective provider processes your data (including IP address, device information and, if you have an account, your account data) under its own responsibility; transfers to third countries are possible. The providers’ privacy policies apply. An account with these services is not required in order to use the app.

In-app purchases (Apple, Google)

Purchases (“Remove ads”, “Premium”) are handled entirely via the respective store – on iPhone and iPad via Apple’s StoreKit, on Android via Google Play (Google Ireland Limited). Payment data is processed exclusively by Apple or Google – neither the app nor the developer receives access to it. The privacy policy of the respective provider applies in addition.

“Remove ads” and the ad-free use included in “Premium” cover third-party advertising, i.e. the ads shown via Google AdMob and the mediated advertising networks. They do not cover references to myHandballStats itself that may appear in the app’s exports, such as shared images, export files or reports: the app logo, the “myHandballStats” wordmark, the web address myhandballstats.de, a QR code linking to the website and the App Store and Google Play badges. These indicate where the export comes from, are not advertising within the meaning of the ad-free purchase and remain in place after a purchase.

Visiting this website

This website runs on a server of the controller's own. The technical infrastructure (data centre, virtual server) is provided by Contabo GmbH, Munich, with whom a data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place. The server itself is operated by the controller named above; no other service provider is involved.

When pages are accessed, the server processes technically necessary access data in log files: IP address, date and time, requested address, amount of data transferred, referrer and browser and operating system identifiers. This serves secure, trouble-free operation and the defence against attacks; the legal basis is legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The log files are deleted automatically after 30 days at the latest.

The pages set no cookies, embed no external content (fonts, scripts and images are on the same server) and use no analytics or tracking services. No profiling takes place.

From the log files the controller compiles simple visitor statistics: number of page views per page and day, country of origin, browser and device type, and referring pages. For this purpose the IP address is shortened (anonymised) before analysis; the statistics themselves contain no personal data and are produced solely from the log files on the controller's own server – without cookies, without scripts in the browser and without any service provider. The purpose is to learn which pages and languages are used; the legal basis is legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The aggregated statistics are kept permanently; the underlying log files are deleted after 30 days at the latest, as described above.

Waiting list (“Notify me at launch”)

If you sign up for the waiting list, we store your email address, the time of sign-up and the page it was made from. This information is used solely to inform you once about the release of the app – no newsletter, no advertising, no disclosure to third parties.

The data is stored on the same server of our own as the website; no external form or newsletter service is involved. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you give expressly when submitting.

You can withdraw your consent at any time informally by email to info@myhandballstats.de; the lawfulness of the processing carried out until then remains unaffected. Your address is deleted no later than four weeks after the launch notification has been sent, and immediately upon withdrawal.

Legal bases

Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) for tracking/personalised advertising, for feedback via “Send feedback” on iPhone and iPad and for signing up to the waiting list, performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) for purchases, legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in financing free use through advertising, in answering email enquiries (including via “Send feedback” on Android) and in the secure operation of the website.

Your rights

Access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection to processing – locally stored data can be deleted directly in the app at any time. Consent given can be withdrawn at any time – consent to personalised advertising in the app under “Settings → Ad privacy settings”, tracking on iPhone and iPad additionally in the iOS settings, signing up to the waiting list by email to the controller. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
